The Auckland Gliding Club at Drury is holding the 2022 Auckland Soaring Championships between January 1 & 8 and assisting their own Pawnee towplane ZK-CEB are Paul Murphy's two Gippsland GA200s ZK-OMA2 and ZK-OMB. Paul resides at Oturehua in Central Otago's Ida Valley and he acquired both aircraft late last year.
ZK-OMA2 was originally imported back in 1994 as ZK-CMC2, being reregistered ZK-PGH3 in 2001 and then OMA2 in 2008.
ZK-OMB was imported in 1996 as ZK-DMC2 and was reregistered by Paul as OMB in December 2021.
Both aircraft are currently listed as for sale with Dennis Thompson International.
The 21 gliders launched today by the 3 towplanes included the following, ZK-GKS2 Schempp Hirth Mini Nimbus C which was imported from South Africa in 2015.
Schempp Hirth Ventus cT ZK-GOP was imported new in 1987 and has been with its current Hamilton owner since 2020.
Rolladen Schneider LS6-c ZK-GRI was imported from the USA in 2004 as ZK-GWC and reregistered as GRI in 2020.
And the South African built Jonker JS1-c 18/21 Revelation ZK-GVZ2 which was imported back in 2014.
