After being locked down for about eight weeks because of level 3 Covid restrictions, last Thursday 7 October the restrictions in Auckland were relaxed a little to allow flying within the Auckland Region boundaries (except for Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands). However the weather was not very favourable for flying over the following few days, but there was a bit of hope on Sunday and Monday morning. So I drove down to North Shore airfield on Sunday for Avgas and there were a couple of sport aircraft out and about:
At North Shore Iain Anderson was flying circuits in his Tecnam P 2002 Mk II
ZK-EVE. That reminds me that I need to get back to complete my series of P 2002 Sierras of New Zealand with this aircraft.
And Gordon Lindsay arrived back overhead at speed in his Corby Starlet
ZK-YGL, and then landed.
Monday morning, 11 October looked much more like flying weather, and it was only going to last until the early afternoon. So I headed out to the airfield and prepped
ZK-KMM after its long rest, and then headed off for a 45 minute local flight. It was a bit bumpy but it was great to be back up there!
Then Bruce Stevenson got his Mosquito XE helicopter
ZK-HWV4 out for a few circuits.
And today the weather is back to unflyable.
