On 13-03-1962 I was out at Taieri and snapped these pics of the De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk ZK-ARL (c/n 61). It got an earlier mention at :-
It is still in the care of Jim Chapman of Christchurch.
At the Wellington Aero Club on 19-05-1964 was the Gliding Clubs De Havilland DH82A Tiger Moth ZK-ATI (c/n 82901). This was ex RAF and RNZAF and was gifted to the Wairarapa And Ruahine Aero Club in mid 1949 but worked for Air Contract of Masterton from July of 1950.
From 1956 onward it had a swag of owner until being sold to the USA in April of 1976.
After some five years as N27WB it went back to the UK and became G-ALIW in August of 1981.
It is still current, as is seen below in this pic from GINFO.

Not exactly a brilliant shot - but it is all that I've got of the Avro 652A Anson 12 ZK-AXY as seen at Frankton in April 1963. This was a RAF aircraft and was operated by the RNZAF, still in its PH599 markings, by the General Purpose Flight on behalf of the British High Commission over the period May 1948 until June of 1950.
Pic below is from the Ed Coates collection and shows ZK-AXY in about 1951 with fuselage registration letters and with the outline of its RAF roundel still visible and the over painted serial just to the left of the "Z".
It was eventually sold by Government Stores Board tender and on February 1st 1951 it was registered as ZK-AXY to F Butler Ltd.
I assume this was the same F Butler who was at the time the Auster agent in NZ.
It was sold on to Adastra Ltd and then to Southern Scenic Air Services Ltd on 20-07-1953.
Its CofA lapsed on 28-02-1955 and it was withdrawn and sat at Frankton until the mid 1960's.
I hear that parts of her were used in the construction of a hovercraft.
