Aerospool WT9 600NG Dynamic ZK-ALL/2

A pleasant surprise yesterday at Rangiora was the fixed gear Aerospool WT9 600NG Dynamic         ZK-ALL2 c/n DY-860D which was registered to Aero Leasing Ltd of Prebbleton back on 04-11-2024.

Here we see John McCallister carrying out some checks.
As you can see - it is powered with a Rotax 916 which has proved to be a very useful glider tow plane.

A cold pie run yesterday #1

Friday the 2nd was a pretty cool day.
The mercury might have got to 10 degrees if you used your imagination
and a cool collection of aircraft were noted.
The ex Rangiora resident Aerospool Dynamic WT9 ZK-MLC (c/n DY145/2006)  now with Murray Hagen of Te Anau taxies in.

Above we have the Alpi Aviation Pioneer 300 Kite fixed gear ZK-NGS (c/n 5018) of Neville Stirling of Winton about to depart for Fernside Fields.
You may  recall this a previously being either ZK-LPL or ZK-SGM.1

A local that I have not seen out for some time is the Aero Design Pulsar ZK-RUS (c/n 325/MAANZ/510) of Chris Lawry.

From Karamea was Steve Galway's "Haast Eagle" Piper PA-22/20 Pacer ZK-SJG (c/n 22/3292) about to be tied down.

Also from the deep south was the Aerospool Dynamic WT9 ZK-ZOW (c/n DY038/2003) with Michael Blomfield of Otautau.

The 600 indicates the higher all up weight of 598kg - some 50kg higher than the earlier models.
It comes with a glass cockpit, has retractable undercarriage with new shaped wheel covers, a small extra side window, a reshaped fin and rudder plus a flared in glider tow hook.

The two previous ZK-DYN's were also DYNamics

ZK-DYN1

c/n DY038/2003

ZK-DYN1 is c/n DY038/2003 - the first in New Zealand - was test flown as OM-AERO and shipped to NZ and registered to the NZ agent Bruce Drake of Drake Aviation Ltd on 21-01-2004.
The photo above was taken on the day it was registered.
In about 2009 the wings went back to the factory for the fitment of long-range tanks and winglets. It was delivered to Jim Dillon at Omaka in November 2009 and re-registered as ZK-ZOW on 07-05-2010 Still with Drake Aviation.
ZK-ZOW at Rangiora on 01-04-2017 with the new wing tips.

This freed up the ZK-DYN letters for the pending arrival of the new demonstrator.
The latest move for ZK-ZOW was to the M & K Blomfield Family Trust of Otautau in December of 2014.

ZK-DYN2

C/n DY375/2010

The second allocation of these registration letters went to the second demonstrator c/n DY375/2010 which became ZK-DYN2 on 06-07-2010 for Drake Aviation Ltd
Below is a photo of ZK-DYN2 as noted at Omaka on 12-02-2015.
This aircraft has remained with Bruce but was re-registered as ZK-DYD on 22-03-2024 to free up its ZK-DYN registration again for the third and most recent demonstrators arrival.
Above is ZK-DYN2 now as ZK-DYD. A recent photo taken at Barradale.

Great Plains Fly-in - Ashburton February 2013

The skies over mid Canterbury's Ashburton Airfield these past few days have been abuzz with a large number of mostly Sport Aircraft Association (SAA) style aircraft with a nice variety of "metal" factory constructed variants as well.

Thanks to Bargeld01 for this cross section view of just some of the aircraft present 08 February, no doubt there will be more additions to the blog once the other contributors return from the event over the coming days!
